New Patient Process

New Patients should contact our office at 913-851-1018 to make an appointment

1

Initial Paperwork

Please arrive 15 minutes early to fill out your initial paperwork. When you arrive for your first visit, you will be greeted by our kind, courteous, and caring front desk staff. Initial paperwork includes forms such as medical and dental history forms as well as forms that discuss your dental concerns, requests, and specific needs. These forms can also be printed from our website and filled out prior to your appointment so that we may better serve our patients. Click here to access the online forms.

Digitial X rays and intraoral camera photos

During your initial comprehensive exam, appropriate digital X-rays will be taken along with intra-oral photographs. Digital x rays allows for much lower doses of radiation than with film. This technology magnifies and enhances the x ray making it easier for you to view your teeth by projecting the picture on our state of the art computers. Also the x ray can be instantly viewed. Dental Expressions of Leawood uses special sensors connected to the computers which are smaller and more comfortable for patients. The intraoral camera shows detailed pictures of your teeth, gums, and facial structure. This allows our dentists to go over the conditions of your teeth and how to best treat them

3

Treatment Plan

Our dentists will do a comprehensive dental exam based on x rays and clinical evaluation. A soft tissue exam, head and neck exam, as well as oral cancer screening will be performed. The patient and the doctor will jointly create a treatment plan. A determination for a regular cleaning or deep cleaning will be made at this time. Our highly trained hygienists will perform a soft tissue analysis. Occasionally, the treatment can be performed on the same day as the initial exam and consultation. That treatment is a regular prophylaxis (dental cleaning)performed by our hygienist. If the treatment plan is complex, a second appointment is required to allow the doctor to review, organize, and develop a plan tailored to your needs.

Scheduling your next appointment

Once we have a plan in place, our doctors will consult with you on the next step. We’ll schedule your next appointment, and you’ll be on your way! This appointment usually lasts 40-60 minutes.
