Dental Insurance: Transparency & Patient Advocacy

Our Approach to Insurance Coverage

Dental insurance is a benefit offered through your employer, and we are not directly contracted with your insurance provider. However, we are committed to assisting you in understanding and utilizing your benefits to the fullest extent possible under your plan. Our treatment recommendations are always based on what is best for your oral health—not on insurance limitations. We believe reducing the quality of care due to coverage restrictions undermines the trust you place in us, and we do not compromise on that responsibility.

Understanding How Dental Insurance Works

Insurance reimbursement is determined by the agreement between your employer and the insurance company, not by our office. Coverage levels vary significantly: Many plans cover approximately 40%–80% of procedures
  • Some plans cover as little as 30%, while others may cover up to 100%
  • Most plans include an annual maximum benefit
  • Insurance companies often calculate benefits using internally set fee schedules that may not reflect our actual fees
For example, if your plan covers 70%, that percentage applies to the insurance carrier’s approved fee—not the total fee charged by our office. All financial arrangements and balances remain between you and our practice.

Insurance Participation & Claim Handling

Our team stays current with insurance carriers and uses a national database to verify coverage based on employer information.
  • We do not participate in HMO or restricted provider networks
  • In more than 80% of cases, patients can still select their preferred dentist
  • All insurance claims are prepared and submitted on your behalf
  • If issues or denials arise, we will assist in resolving them whenever possible
  • Most claims are submitted electronically before the end of your treatment day

Financial Responsibility & Processing Timeframes

Before starting treatment, we request your estimated portion based on available insurance details. Please note that this is an estimate—not a guarantee of coverage.
  • Monthly statements are issued for outstanding balances
  • Insurance responses typically arrive within 4–6 weeks
  • Any remaining balance after insurance payment is the patient’s responsibility

Important Payment Policies

  • Insurance delays beyond 90 days: The remaining balance becomes payable while we continue to follow up with the insurer
  • Late payment policy: Balances unpaid after a 60-day grace period may accrue interest at 18% APR
We appreciate prompt payment and clear communication regarding your account

Accepted Payments & Financing Options

We offer multiple payment solutions to accommodate different needs:

Pay-Per-Visit

Payments may be made at each appointment using cash, personal check, or credit card.

Authorized Monthly Credit Card Payments

With written authorization, we can charge a predetermined amount to your Visa or MasterCard monthly—no credit application required.

Three-Installment Plan (for treatments over $1,000)

  • 50% due at the initial visit
  • Remaining balance divided into two equal payments at 30 and 60 days

Third-Party Financing

We accept CareCredit, which offers promotional and low-interest financing for procedures such as crowns, implants, veneers, and more.

Gradual Treatment Planning

For patients working within a budget, care can be prioritized and completed in stages over time. All financial arrangements must be finalized before treatment begins.
